This year Kemi Nicko & Co have reimagined one of Aotearoa’s most iconic backcountry traditions, signing the DOC hut logbook, in a new creative journal for Aotearoa trampers.
The Bush Craft Intentions Book invites people to slow down and connect, to record your adventures by hand, in the moment and in the elements. Created in the Mini Hut Studio, reading creative entries in hut books has inspired this small publication.
Before the pandemic Kemi & Niko built their own huts on public land, albeit on a much smaller scale. Funded by councils and festivals these miniature ‘public art’ huts all contained blank logbooks that quickly filled with unique entries as visitors were inspired by the structures and the locations.
Inspired by this collection of hut books collected over the years, we have released our own version of the Intentions Book, a small journal you can carry with you from hut to hut.
The layout of the journal plays off the format of the DOC Intention Book exploring how to tap into your creativity, how being outdoors is good for our mental health, connection in the backcountry, tips for getting out there, as well as the Outdoor Safety Code.
The Backcountry Art Journal lets you record inspiration and connect with fellow backcountry enthusiasts without breaking the rules of the DOC Intentions Book
The perfect affordable gift for your tramping friends & family!
